Meet Christina Johnson
Holding a Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, Christina works with individuals, couples, and families. She has a deep respect for the work she does and the lives she is let into. Christina’s personable yet professional approach is an asset to her clinically as it creates an environment conducive to her clients’ therapeutic success. Additional certifications in distance therapy (teletherapy) and advanced grief counselling have afforded her the ability to assist and support her clients in a meaningful way during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Christina is also a certified life coach that trained with a program accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the most professional and highest-regarded coaching board globally. Her true coaching passion is helping people improve in taking care of themselves and their mental and emotional wellbeing. She has the competence to help you achieve any goal, from personal to corporate; and especially enjoys watching her clients flourish and develop along the way.
A love for and work experience in education (traditional, hybrid, and special needs) and a desire to expand in a leadership capacity led Christina to pursue a graduate-level credential in educational management and leadership with Harvard University. This focus blends seamlessly with her passion for mental health education, specifically social emotional learning (SEL). Despite the vast research supporting the importance of SEL in schools, this emphasis is lacking in the majority of curriculums in The Bahamas. Christina wishes to generate more attention to social emotional learning, as Bahamian youth can benefit greatly from this initiative.
Christina’s rigorous education, therapeutic skills, experience with teaching and learning, and own lived experience afford her the insight and ability to engage with and effectively assist her clients from multiple vantage points. One of her professional goals is to make a significant impact in terms of helping our community recognize that mental health is a non-negotiable and essential component to our overall wellbeing. Attuning to our mental health and wellness through therapy, coaching, and education is nothing to be ashamed of or stigmatized; but something to be embraced, commended, and normalized.
